The Military Order of the Carabao’s Distinguished Service Award is the highest honor bestowed by the Main Corral. Established to recognize individuals who have demonstrated exceptional patriotism, outstanding leadership, and invaluable contributions to the security and defense of the United States, this award celebrates those who embody the very best of American service.
While the Order was founded on a legendary sense of good humor and camaraderie, we take the defense of our nation and the preservation of our military heritage seriously. This award bridges those two worlds, honoring elite leaders who have shouldered immense responsibility, yet who appreciate the rare, unbreakable fellowship found only within the Herd.
Criteria for Nomination
The Distinguished Service Award is not given lightly. It is conferred selectively by the organization council upon individuals who meet the following distinctions:

Impactful Leadership: Demonstrated conspicuous and profoundly significant service in a position of high responsibility within the U.S. Armed Forces, the Department of Defense, or national security sectors.

Devotion to Country: A lifetime or career benchmark of actions that directly advance national defense, support service members and veterans, or preserve American military history.

Alignment with the Order: Individuals who champion the values of cross-generational military fellowship, mentorship, and the enduring traditions passed down through the Main Corral.

A Legacy of Prestige: Past recipients of the Distinguished Service Award include prominent military commanders, visionary defense leaders, and statesmen who have shaped the course of modern military history.
Nominations and Inquiries
Nominations for the Distinguished Service Award are reviewed and vetted exclusively by the Main Corral’s Leadership and Award Committee.
