125th Annual Military Order of the Carabao Wallow

Join you battle buddies, shipmates, wingmen, colleagues and friends to celebrate the 125th Anniversary of the Military Order of the Carabao at the this years' Annual Wallow.  Our theme this year is

"Back to the Good Old Wallow Time"

The Herd has experienced many changes over the years and Covid brought many changes.  We are proud of the progress we have made, but some tradition was lost in the process.  This year we are proud to return the Omni Shoreham Hotel where we have celebrated many a Wallow.

This year we are proud to bring back a lost tradition of cigars after dinner.  While we still cannot smoke inside, we are introducing an outdoor Cigar Bar complete with tables and patio heaters.

Dress:  Military Dinner Dress Uniform or Civilian Semi-Formal (Black Tie), and miniature medals and devices may be worn.

Metro Access:  The Woodley Park-Zoo/Adams Morgan (Red Line) is a 5 minute walk to the Omni Shoreman Hotel

Parking:  Parking is available at the Omni Shoreham Hotel

125th Anniversary Military Order of the Carabao Wallow

"Going Back to the Good Ol' Wallow Time!"

Purchasing Tickets: As it's 2024-25, and the only use for paper that we can think of is to clean up after the bull and cow Carabaos, so we REALLY encourage online registration at https://www.carabao.org/event-5940364.  For those who have difficulty purchasing tickets that way, please contact Main Guy CAPT Bob "Shoebob" Carey, USN at MainGuy@Carabao.org to find alternative methods to purchase tickets.

Ticket Prices: Despite the continued 7% inflation in the Washington DC area hospitality sector in 2024, The Herd has been able to keep ticket prices at the same level as last year: Member tickets are $285 and Non-Member tickets are $375.  However, the same great dining, open bar, and even better entertainment (with the return of the Gamboling Carabaos!) will be at the 2025 Wallow.  And annual dues plus the Member ticket is still cheaper than the Non-Member ticket price.

Sitting with a Fellow Member:  We have included on the website an entry for you to complete if you wish to sit with another member attending the WALLOW. Please enter the member’s full name, so we can combine the applications. The Seating Committee will call Members who have multiple seating requests from other Members.  Please avoid unnecessary workload, confusion and possible embarrassment by pre-coordinating with whom you wish to sit.

Carabao Membership Application Submission:  The Herd also has both an online membership application and the traditional form for application where you can download a paper application.  Apply On-Line for membership, and bring your dues up to date online as well, in order to get the Member discount for this year's Wallow.  We also rely upon Members of the Herd paying their dues in November and December so we have sufficient funds to cover the periodic payments needed to host the Wallow.

Formal Invitations:  All Members and Guests will be e-mailed a formal response by the Dinner Committee for their ticket purchases. The Invitation is not a ticket and will not be required for admission; registration will be by name the night of the Wallow.

Organizational and Corporate Sponsors:  Each year, we are grateful to our Sponsors. Because of them, we have been able to maintain the high quality of our Entertainment and relative stability of the Wallow ticket prices.  We encourage inquiries from organizations interested in being Sponsors for the 2025 125th Anniversary WALLOW.  We now offer several Levels of Sponsorships, both general and for specific elements of the Wallow, like to sponsor the Grog Trough (yes, it's silly, but it's fun). Please refer to the Sponsor Application form link on this page.  If your organization is interested in being a Sponsor, please contact Tesorero de los Carabaos Shannon Scott-Paul at Shannon@OBrienLLC.com or 202-544-8555, or Main Guy de los Carabaos Bob Carey, at MainGuy@Carabao.org or 202-779-1598 for more information.

Show:  As this is our 125th Anniversary Wallow, this year's Wallow Theme is "Going Back to the Good Ol' Wallow Time!"  This year the Gamboling Carabaos are building on last year's triumphant return to the Wallow stage, with even more songs and skits, the return of old Wallow entertainment traditions (including some greatest hits from previous Wallows), and the start of some new ones.  We are confident you will find them entertaining, and most politically incorrect. The Joint Service Color Guard and “The President’s Own” United States Marine Band will be present to delight and inspire us.

Compliance with D.C. Smoking Laws: The District of Columbia Smoking Laws apply at the 2025 125th Anniversary WALLOW. The Omni Shoreham Hotel has informed us specifically, there will be NO SMOKING allowed inside at the 2025 Anniversary WALLOW.  But as we promised last year, the Omni is providing us with a covered, heated, outdoor cigar smoking lounge, with a bar (so even the smoking Carabaos can ALWAYS remain well watered).  That lounge will be open both before and after the Wallow dinner.

Wine available on the tables:  Members may bring their beverages to their tables from the Reception. Wine will be available on the tables.  Open bars will be available at strategic locations throughout the Ballroom.  At the conclusion of the WALLOW, coffee and alcoholic refreshments will be available in the Reception area where we first assembled, as well as the Smoking Lounge which will be just outside, and again, is covered and heated with a bar.  In compliance with D.C. law, beverages not purchased at the Hotel are not allowed in the official Wallow function spaces.

Dress:  Military Dinner Dress Uniform or Civilian Semi-Formal (Black Tie), and miniature medals and devices may be worn.

Metro Access:  Get off at Woodley Park - Zoo Metro Stop (Red Line)

Parking:  The Omni Shoreham Hotel offers paid and valet parking at the hotel, in a fully protected parking lot.

Room Reservations:  For those planning to attend the Wallow, and who may wish to reserve a room at the Omni Shoreham Hotel the Military Order of the Carabao has reserved a block of rooms for Friday February 7th, Saturday February 8th, and Sunday February 9th (if you wish to stay in town to watch the Super Bowl) at the reduced Wallow rate of $219. To take advantage of this reduced rate, you must make your room reservation either with the Omni Shoreham Hotel Reservations Department by calling 800-THE-OMNI (800-843-6664) and referencing the room block by date and "Military Order of the Carabao Room Block 2025" or "Carabao Wallow", . If you call in, be sure to request the special Carabao 2025 Wallow Room Rate of $219/night, plus tax.  This special rate will be available until the cutoff date of January 10, 2025 so please book early.  If you have any problems, reference the Room Sales Manager Amanda Frontier.

An online room reservation method and code will be coming soon, and an email will be sent to the Herd with that specific information.
